Prestigious 2026 Accolades for Maldivian Retreat

JA Manafaru, a private island resort located in the Haa Alifu Atoll of the Maldives, has been included in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide hotel selection. This recognition from the internationally renowned guide brings significant attention to the property, which is part of the Dubai-born JA Resorts & Hotels group.

The MICHELIN Guide inspectors independently selected the resort for its global hotel collection, acknowledging its focus on privacy, expansive spaces, and attentive service. This latest honor follows the resort's Forbes Travel Guide Recommended recognition in the 2026 Star Awards, marking a year of dual international acknowledgements for the Maldivian destination.

Luxury Stays for Celebrations and Honeymoons

The resort features 84 villas and residences, each equipped with its own private pool, designed to offer a secluded escape. Among its new additions, the Three Bedroom Royal Beach Residence stands out as an expansive option for special celebrations or multigenerational holidays.

Spanning 5,800 square meters across two levels, this residence includes two private pools, a dedicated spa pavilion with steam and sauna facilities, private cabanas, generous living areas, and personal butler service.

These luxurious accommodations, combined with extensive leisure facilities and a secluded spa sanctuary, position JA Manafaru as a prime choice for destination weddings and honeymoons in Asia.

Distinctive Dining Experiences

JA Manafaru offers several distinctive dining venues, enhancing its appeal for couples and small groups. Kuri, a new intimate treetop restaurant, welcomes up to four guests for a five-course tasting menu crafted by Executive Chef Moosa Nazeeh.

Meaning “treetop” in Dhivehi, Kuri emphasizes a 0km philosophy, using ingredients sourced from the surrounding atoll, such as reef fish, coconut, and pandan. The experience is complemented by handcrafted ceramics from the resort’s on-island clay studio.

Other dining options include wine-paired dinners at The Cellar, located within volcanic rock, beachfront meals at Ocean Grill, and Japanese cuisine at White Orchid, alongside Maldivian cooking classes.

Implications for Asia's Wedding Market

This dual recognition for JA Manafaru reinforces the Maldives' position as a premier destination for luxury honeymoons and intimate destination weddings among Asian couples. The inclusion in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide and Forbes Travel Guide provides a strong endorsement for wedding planners and couples seeking high-end venues with a focus on privacy and bespoke service.

The resort's expanded residences, like the Three Bedroom Royal Beach Residence, cater directly to multi-generational celebrations, a growing trend in the Asian wedding market. Couples planning their 2027 or 2028 events should consider these newly recognized properties, verifying package details directly with the resort for current offerings and availability.
