Industry Recognition for Smailing Tour DMC

Smailing Tour DMC, a prominent Indonesian travel firm, has been named Asia's Best Inbound Travel Agency for 2026. This recognition comes from the Travel Weekly Asia Readers' Choice Awards, presented on 01 October 2026, at the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore.

Jason Lim, Group Chief Operating Officer and CEO of Leisure Outbound and Destination Management for Smailing Tour Group, accepted the accolade. The award acknowledges the company's commitment to excellence and innovation within the region's travel sector.

The Travel Weekly Asia Awards Process

For the past 12 years, since 2015, Travel Weekly Asia has conducted a survey among its readership to identify leading travel operators across the Asia-Pacific region. These Readers' Choice Awards gather votes from high-ranking professionals, including travel agents, hospitality leaders, airline executives, cruise line operators, and tourism decision-makers.

This year, the awards program honored 46 winners across seven categories, with 23 recipients being first-time honorees and 23 being repeat winners. Irene Chua, Vice President and Group Publisher, Asia, for Northstar Travel Group, noted that the awards reflect the trust and confidence of travel trade professionals.

Smailing Tour DMC's Extensive Operations

Founded in 1976 by Rudy Akili, Smailing Tour DMC has evolved from a small ticketing agency into a leading Indonesian travel provider. The company now employs over 400 team members across more than 10 branch offices in key Indonesian locations, including Jakarta, Bali, Yogyakarta, and Labuan Bajo, Flores.

Its operational reach extends globally through partnerships with over 2,200 international offices in 140 countries. Jason Lim, who joined Smailing Tours in 2016, emphasized the collective effort of the team in achieving this industry recognition.

Implications for Destination Weddings and Honeymoons

For couples planning destination weddings or honeymoons in Indonesia, this award highlights Smailing Tour DMC as a trusted partner for travel logistics. The agency's long history and extensive network, particularly in popular wedding and honeymoon destinations like Bali and Flores, suggest reliability for managing complex travel arrangements for couples and their guests.

Wedding planners coordinating events for international clients in Indonesia may find value in collaborating with an inbound agency recognized by industry peers for its service quality, ensuring smoother experiences for celebratory trips to the archipelago.
