Leadership Change at SITE

The Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) has announced the appointment of Rebecca Wright as its interim Chief Executive Officer. This strategic leadership change follows a comprehensive internal review conducted by SITE's Executive Committee.

The decision received full affirmation from the SITE International Board of Directors, ensuring a unified approach to the transition. Ms. Wright steps into this pivotal role, succeeding Annette Gregg, and will guide the global association through its immediate operational and strategic priorities.

Wright's Extensive Industry Background

Ms. Wright is a highly respected figure within the SITE community, bringing a wealth of experience accrued over more than 15 years in the incentive travel industry. Her career highlights include significant contributions as a chapter leader and president for SITE Chicago, demonstrating her commitment to the organization's grassroots efforts.

She first joined SITE's central staff in January 2020, taking on the crucial role of head of chapter engagement. Notably, this is not Ms. Wright's first tenure as interim CEO; she previously served in this capacity from October 2020 through November 2022, providing continuity during a prior transitional period.

Guiding the Association Through Transition

In her renewed capacity, Ms. Wright's primary focus will be to ensure seamless operations and continued progress on SITE's strategic initiatives. She will provide steady leadership for the association's diverse global membership during this interim phase.

The SITE International Board of Directors will concurrently conduct a separate and extensive search for a permanent chief executive. Ms. Wright's appointment is designed to leverage her deep institutional knowledge and strong industry relationships, maintaining momentum and member value throughout the leadership transition.

Implications for Asia's Event Sector

For Asia's rapidly evolving wedding and luxury event industry, leadership continuity at global associations like SITE holds indirect but meaningful importance. Incentive travel often features high-end group experiences and destination events, sharing significant operational overlaps with elaborate destination weddings.

These include venue selection, logistics, and vendor management. A seasoned leader at SITE helps ensure consistent advocacy for quality standards and professional development within the broader MICE sector.

This stability can indirectly benefit Asian hotels, wedding planners, and suppliers who cater to both corporate incentives and destination weddings, fostering a robust ecosystem for premium event services across the region.
