Minor Hotels Expands Vietnam Presence

Minor Hotels plans to broaden its operations in Vietnam, moving beyond its established collection of beach resorts. The hotel group aims to develop a wider national network, with new ventures set for major urban hubs. This expansion includes key cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The strategy reflects a move to diversify its portfolio within the country, adapting to evolving market demands in Vietnam.

Shifting Focus from Coastal Resorts

For over two decades, Minor Hotels' presence in Vietnam centered on leisure destinations. Its existing properties are located in popular coastal areas like Hoi An, Mui Ne, and Quy Nhon. These locations primarily catered to international tourists seeking resort experiences.

Omar Romero, Minor Hotels' Chief Development and Luxury Officer, stated that early opportunities were strongest for international demand in resort areas.

Capitalizing on New Market Dynamics

The company's new direction responds to significant changes in Vietnam's travel market. Minor Hotels now seeks to attract growing domestic tourism, corporate business, and meetings events. These segments were largely absent from its previous resort-focused portfolio.

Romero highlighted that Vietnam's market has evolved considerably, presenting new opportunities for urban properties and a broader range of hospitality services.

Implications for Vietnam Wedding Planning

This strategic expansion by Minor Hotels will offer couples more venue choices for weddings and related events in Vietnam's major cities. Planners and couples can anticipate new options for city-based celebrations, engagement parties, or pre-wedding shoots in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

As new properties emerge, couples should inquire about specific event spaces, capacities, and wedding packages available at these urban locations. This move could also influence the broader hospitality offerings for destination weddings across the country.
