Duetto Expands Pricing Platform

Duetto, a company specializing in hotel revenue management, has completed the acquisition of Flyr Hospitality. This unit previously managed hotel pricing and business intelligence for its parent company, Flyr, which primarily focuses on airline technology. The strategic purchase aims to bolster Duetto's existing platform for optimizing hotel room rates.

While the transaction marks a significant development in hospitality technology, neither Duetto nor Flyr disclosed the financial terms of the acquisition.

Flyr Hospitality's Client Base

Before this acquisition, Flyr Hospitality served a substantial portfolio of over 1,000 hotel clients. Its entry into the hotel sector dates back to September 2022, when Flyr acquired Pace Revenue. This startup had already established a strong presence in the hotel room-rate business.

The move allowed Flyr, an airline-focused firm, to diversify its offerings into the hospitality market, providing advanced tools for rate optimization to a wide range of properties.

Strategic Shift for Flyr

The sale signals Flyr's decision to exit the hotel pricing segment. Sam Chamberlain, Flyr's chief product officer, commented on the divestiture, stating that the unit would achieve greater success under the stewardship of a team entirely dedicated to the hospitality industry.

This change in corporate strategy follows closely on the heels of a leadership transition at Flyr; its founder and CEO, Alex Mans, resigned from his position two weeks prior to the acquisition announcement.

Implications for Wedding Venues in Asia

The integration of Flyr Hospitality's advanced tools into Duetto's platform could lead to more refined and dynamic pricing strategies for hotels globally. For Asia's wedding industry, this may translate into venues implementing more flexible pricing for banquet spaces, guest room blocks, and comprehensive wedding packages.

Couples planning celebrations in prominent Asian destinations like Singapore, Thailand, or Bali might observe more variable costs, influenced by real-time demand and market conditions. This enhanced revenue management capability could prompt venues to adjust their offerings, impacting budget planning for future wedding bookings.
