Wyndham Hotels Expands India Network, Focuses on Outbound Travel
Wyndham aims for 200 hotels in India by 2028, aligning with new direct flights to Greece. This strategy supports Indian couples planning destination weddings or honeymoons abroad.

Wyndham Hotels Expands India Presence
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts plans a substantial increase in its India portfolio. The company currently operates 96 hotels across the country. It anticipates surpassing 100 properties by the close of 2026. The next objective is approximately 200 hotels by the end of 2028. This growth strategy aims to serve India's expanding domestic travel market.
It also positions the brand to capture Indian travelers globally. Wyndham's focus extends to both leisure and business segments within this dynamic market, ensuring a robust presence.
New Flights Facilitate Travel to Greece
Wyndham is actively targeting Indian travelers for its international properties, particularly in Greece. The company hosts India-themed evenings at its Greek hotels to attract this growing demographic. This initiative aligns with the recent introduction of new direct flights, enhancing Greece's accessibility from India.
IndiGo commenced nonstop service from Mumbai to Athens in January 2026, followed by a Delhi-Athens route the next day. Greek carrier Aegean also launched direct flights to New Delhi in March 2026 and Mumbai from May 2026. These additions significantly boost direct air travel capacity between India and Greece.
Strategic Growth for Destination Weddings and Honeymoons
Wyndham's expansion strategy prioritizes emerging travel corridors. The company monitors new airport developments, highway projects, and airline routes to place its hotels strategically. This approach captures both domestic Indian travel and international outbound demand.
Dimitris Manikis, a company representative, stated this objective clearly: "We want to follow the planes." For Asia's wedding sector, this reveals a growing market for Indian destination weddings and honeymoons in places like Greece. Increased flight options simplify travel for couples and their guests. This trend offers new opportunities for wedding planners and hoteliers serving the Indian market.
