Hotel Sahara Star Debuts Courtyard for Weddings
Hotel Sahara Star in Mumbai recently hosted its first large-scale wedding within its courtyard, marking a significant new use for the space. Traditionally not offered for such celebrations, the courtyard was transformed by Design HQ, a WeddingSutra Favorite, into an elegant and immersive venue.
Kinjal Adodra, who leads the design team, noted that the couple's ambitious decision to use this unconventional area required a design approach that respected the existing architecture rather than concealing it. This event establishes a new benchmark for how non-traditional hotel spaces can be adapted for grand wedding ceremonies in the city.
Immersive Floral Sanctuary Design
The design concept focused on creating a serene, romantic sanctuary that felt organic to its surroundings. At the heart of the ceremony, a sculptural floating floral canopy served as the mandap, adorned with layers of ivory blooms forming a rounded, cloud-like shape. White florals cascaded gently from its edges, giving the impression of natural growth.
The aisle leading to this central feature extended the organic theme with lush floral meadows, delicate fountains, and subtle bonsai accents, introducing a Zen-inspired rhythm to the overall setting. National Decorators managed the décor, while Allegiant Events served as the wedding planner.
Atmosphere Transforms from Day to Night
The venue's atmosphere evolved significantly from daytime to evening, thanks to thoughtful lighting design. During daylight hours, the floral installation appeared airy and ethereal. As dusk settled, warm lighting filtered through the dense floral arrangements, illuminating the cascading blooms and lending the mandap a soft, luminous glow.
This interplay of light and florals added depth and quiet drama to the setting, transforming the space. Kinjal Adodra explained that the lighting allowed the installation to present a distinct personality after sunset, shifting from an airy daytime feel to one that was warm, intimate, and dreamlike.
