Morgan Meredith to Lead The Imperial Gold Coast Evolution

Hilton appointed Morgan Meredith as General Manager for The Imperial Gold Coast. She will lead the property's transformation into Australia's first LXR Hotels and Resorts location. This debut is set for 2027. Meredith brings over 15 years of luxury hospitality leadership across Australia and Asia. She will guide the Gold Coast property's significant evolution.

This work involves close collaboration with Hilton, the hotel's owners, and its team. Fiona Pryde, Hilton Cluster General Manager, South East Queensland, noted Meredith's appointment marks a key milestone. Pryde cited Meredith's experience leading complex hotel renovations and repositioning projects. Her deep understanding of the local market also prepares her for this change.

Meredith previously served as Hotel Manager for Keraton at The Plaza in Jakarta. There, she oversaw a major renovation, repositioning, and reopening.

The Leea Strengthens Leadership Ahead of Transformation

The Leea, a boutique hotel in Darwin, has strengthened its operations and hospitality leadership team. These appointments precede an 18-month property transformation. Ross McGregor joins as General Manager. He brings two decades of hospitality leadership from hotels, resorts, and venues across Asia Pacific. McGregor previously spent four years with Prendiville Group.

The family-run Prendiville Group acquired the 168-room former Travelodge in early 2025. The Leea's new leadership team includes Executive Chef Samantha Bennett, a Darwin native. Juan Gomez is the new Food and Beverage Manager, with 18 years in luxury brands. Sales Manager Lindsay Munro adds over 40 years of Australian hospitality insight.

Bernadette Dino joins as Front Office Manager, with 13 years of global hospitality work. McGregor stated the team is building a destination reflecting the "Top End" region. The first stage of the transformation launches next month, in September 2026.

Centara Hotels and Resorts Appoints Chief Development Officer

Centara Hotels and Resorts appointed Andrew Shaw as Chief Development Officer. Shaw will report to Michael Henssler, Centara's Chief Operating Officer. He will oversee development across Centara's six brands. Shaw brings over 30 years of international hospitality and real estate expertise.

His background includes hotel development, investment analysis, and commercial negotiation. Before Centara, Shaw was Founding Partner at Hospitality Asset Solutions 360. There, he advised hotel owners and investors on asset development. He also served as Vice President – Development at Dusit International.

In that role, he led expansion strategies across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific. Shaw noted Centara's strong foundation for future growth. He highlighted its distinct brand portfolio and authentic Thai identity.

Implications for Asia-Pacific Wedding Venues

These leadership appointments and property transformations present new venue choices for Asia-Pacific couples. The Imperial Gold Coast's 2027 debut as an LXR property will add a luxury option for destination weddings in Australia. The Leea's renovation and new team will enhance its offerings for intimate celebrations in Darwin.

Centara's new Chief Development Officer will guide the expansion of its brands across Asia. This creates more diverse wedding and event locations within the region. Couples and planners seeking unique settings in the Asia-Pacific market can monitor these developments for future bookings and enhanced hospitality services.
