Hyatt Expands in Indonesia with 3 Hotels, Debuts Destination Brand
Samara Lombok will open in 2027, marking the debut of the Destination by Hyatt brand in Southeast Asia. The 125-hectare resort offers 249 guestrooms and villas.

Hyatt's Indonesian Expansion
Hyatt Hotels Corporation will significantly expand its Indonesian presence with three new properties. These additions in Jakarta, Semarang, and Lombok will build on its existing portfolio of 14 hotels across seven distinct brands. The Samara Lombok is scheduled to open in 2027. This property will mark the debut of the Destination by Hyatt brand in Southeast Asia.
The expansive development spans 125 hectares, situated across two distinct sites: Samara Bay and Samara Hills. It will feature 249 guestrooms and villas, offering new, diverse options for couples planning destination weddings or large-scale events in the region.
New Urban and Regional Properties
In Jakarta, the Andaz Jakarta Sudirman is expected to open its doors in 2028. This urban property will be located within one of the capital’s tallest central business district skyscrapers. It will offer 198 guestrooms alongside 167 serviced apartments, catering to both short-term stays and extended visits.
Meanwhile, Hyatt Place Semarang will feature 154 rooms spread across seven floors. This hotel will provide comprehensive amenities, including an all-day dining restaurant and a dedicated ballroom. Additionally, meeting rooms, a modern gym, and a vibrant rooftop bar will be available, making it suitable for various events and guest needs.
Strategic Focus on Growth Markets
Perry Chung, marketing and events manager for Hyatt Asia-Pacific, elaborated on this expansion during the recent Hyatt Fair in Jakarta. He highlighted Semarang’s significant growth as both a commercial and leisure hub. Chung noted Semarang's rich cultural offerings and diverse culinary scene.
Its strategic location also serves as an excellent base for travellers exploring nearby destinations such as Yogyakarta and Solo. This approach shows Hyatt's intent to reach a broader range of travellers across Central Java. The new properties diversify venue choices for couples planning a wedding, offering more options for regional celebrations.
Hyatt actively seeks further opportunities in underrepresented regions, including second and third-tier cities, beyond key markets like Jakarta and Bali. Additional Indonesian projects are currently in development, with future brand debuts anticipated.
