Hilton Expands Regional Footprint

Hilton is significantly growing its presence across Southeast Asia, focusing on emerging destinations to meet evolving travel demands. The hotel group plans to introduce 1,500 new rooms in Phu Quoc, Vietnam, within a three-brand complex.

This development includes Conrad Phu Quoc, Hilton Phu Quoc, and DoubleTree by Hilton Phu Quoc, all situated in a new precinct designed for the 2027 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting. This expansion aligns with a broader industry trend where travelers seek authentic local experiences beyond traditional urban centers.

New Properties Across the Region

Beyond Vietnam, Hilton has also opened several new properties with dedicated event facilities across Southeast Asia this year. These include the Kahavadi Chiang Rai, Curio Collection by Hilton in Thailand, and the Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort in Malaysia. Indonesia saw the debut of Hilton Bandung Padalarang.

Earlier this year, in February 2026, Hilton opened the Hilton Quang Hanh Onsen Resort, which offers wellness-focused itineraries. These additions provide a wider range of settings for various events, from corporate gatherings to intimate celebrations.

Strategic Focus on Experience-Led Stays

Sebastien Kaeuffer, Hilton's vice president of commercial operations for Asia-Pacific excluding China, explained the strategy centers on placing the right brands in suitable destinations to match customer preferences. He noted that governments and tourism bodies in Southeast Asia are investing in new event locations.

As event organizers increasingly prioritize purpose-driven and experience-led gatherings, there is growing demand for unique venues outside conventional city environments. This shift favors regional markets like Bandung, Chiang Rai, and Langkawi, which offer distinct cultural or natural appeal.

New Options for Asia's Couples

For couples planning a destination wedding or a honeymoon in Asia, Hilton's expansion brings a wealth of new choices. The new resorts and lifestyle properties, particularly in locations like Phu Quoc, Langkawi, and Chiang Rai, offer settings that integrate local culture and natural beauty directly into a celebration or romantic getaway.

Couples seeking a wellness-focused honeymoon might consider the Hilton Quang Hanh Onsen Resort. These new venues provide diverse options for bespoke events, allowing couples to create unique experiences beyond established city hotels. Inquiries about wedding packages and event capacities at these new resorts are recommended for those planning for 2027 and beyond.
