New Leadership for Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island Enterprises announced new executive appointments this year, naming Chris Mills as Chief Executive Officer. Renae Trimble also joins the leadership team as Chief Operating Officer. These changes aim to strengthen the company’s executive structure. The appointments follow Hamilton Island’s acquisition by global investment firm Blackstone late last year. Mills will assume his CEO role later this year, bringing extensive experience to the Australian island destination.

Chris Mills Brings Decades of Tourism Experience

Mills arrives with over 30 years of leadership in aviation, tourism, and events. He most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Sunshine Coast Airport for three years, where he drove passenger growth and development initiatives.

Before that, Mills spent eight years as CEO of Queensland Airports Limited, overseeing operations, capital investment, and strategic development across multiple airports. His career also includes executive roles at Dreamworld theme park, d’Albora Marinas, and South Bank Corporation. Mills currently serves on the boards of Events Management Queensland and the Queensland Tourism Industry Council.

Renae Trimble to Oversee Island Operations

Renae Trimble commenced her role as Chief Operating Officer in June this year. She joins Hamilton Island from the National Rugby League (NRL), where she was Chief Commercial Officer, responsible for commercial revenue and fan engagement. Trimble brings over 25 years of experience in hospitality, commercial strategy, loyalty, and digital.

This includes a 17-year career with Accor, where she became CEO of Accor Plus Asia Pacific. She also led Accor Pacific’s Commercial Division, overseeing strategy, revenue, distribution, digital, loyalty, and marketing. In her new position, Trimble will manage Hamilton Island’s operations, including hotels, food and beverage, the marina, retail, and activities.

Elevating the Guest Experience

John Borghetti, Chairman of Hamilton Island, commented on the appointments. He noted Mills’ understanding of connectivity in growing successful destinations, positioning him to lead the island through its next phase. Borghetti also highlighted Trimble's deep hospitality expertise and commercial acumen.

These leadership additions aim to elevate the guest experience and build the business’s long-term performance. For couples planning destination weddings or honeymoons in the Asia-Pacific region, these moves signal Hamilton Island’s commitment to service excellence and refined offerings, potentially enhancing future celebrations on the island.
