Cendyn Introduces Unified Payment System

Cendyn, a prominent hospitality marketing software provider, has launched a unified payment framework. Integrated into Cendyn CRS, this system aims to lessen payment friction and reduce cart abandonment for direct hotel bookings. The framework includes integrations with Flex Pay, FreedomPay, Stripe, and Gr4vy.

Hotels can now provide options such as buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) and global currency acceptance. This also enables intelligent gateway routing and policy-driven payment management. Hotels maintain control over transaction structure, collection, and reconciliation through the new system.

Addressing Booking Challenges

This initiative responds to significant challenges in online booking. Data shows 52% of travelers abandon bookings because of poor digital payment experiences. Furthermore, 17% of summer 2026 travelers plan to use BNPL for travel expenses. Cendyn's new framework reveals the growing importance of flexible payment options for converting bookings.

The Cendyn CRS also supports booking modifications, cancellations, refunds, and partial payments. It incorporates regional payment gateways to help reduce declined authorizations and currency limitations, offering a more seamless guest payment flow.

Industry Leaders Confirm Benefits

Kevin Duncan, Executive Vice President Product at Cendyn, stated that every lost booking represents a revenue decision. He noted that guests often abandon checkouts when their preferred payment method is unavailable. This results in a conversion failure impacting both commercial profit and the direct booking channel.

Tom Botts, President of Flex Pay, confirmed that their integration allows hoteliers to offer BNPL directly. Kevin Carson, Senior Vice President Global Partnerships at FreedomPay, added that their integration streamlines payment operations and supports flexible strategies.

John Lunn, CEO & Founder of Gr4vy, highlighted the system's ability to boost authorization rates and revenue for global hotel groups.

Implications for Asia's Wedding Venues

For wedding venues across Asia, this payment framework offers a tangible advantage. Hotels and resorts can now provide greater payment flexibility to couples planning their celebrations. This includes options for installment payments or accepting diverse international currencies, which is crucial for destination weddings.

By reducing payment friction, venues can improve direct booking conversion rates for high-value wedding packages and event spaces. This helps Asia's wedding businesses secure more commitments and manage financial operations with enhanced control, adapting to modern guest expectations and payment preferences.
