Ras Al Khaimah Targets 80% Luxury Hotels by 2030
The UAE emirate plans to nearly double its room count to 16,000, adding 8,000 new keys across international luxury brands by the end of the decade.

Ras Al Khaimah's Luxury Vision
Ras Al Khaimah is undergoing a significant transformation, aiming to position itself as a premier destination with 80 percent of its hotel keys classified as luxury by 2030. Currently, only 13.3 percent of the emirate's hotel inventory falls into the five-star luxury category, according to Phillipa Harrison, CEO of the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA).
The emirate intends to expand its total room count from the current 8,700 to approximately 16,000. This expansion involves the addition of 8,000 new hotel keys through various international luxury brands over the next four years.
Active Pipeline of Premium Properties
The RAKTDA reports an active pipeline of 8,000 new keys expected to open by 2030. This year, 2026, saw the opening of the 258-key Rotana Ras Al Khaimah – The Mangroves. Looking ahead to 2027, the 70-key Saij Mountain Lodge by Mantis is set to open on Jebel Jais, the highest peak in the UAE.
Also scheduled for a September 2027 opening, a slight adjustment from its initial first-quarter target, is the 1,530-key Wynn Al Marjan Island casino resort, which represents the largest single addition to the emirate's hospitality offerings.
The year after, 2028, will bring a wave of new international luxury brands, including Nobu, Janu, Fairmont, W Hotels, The Unexpected, and Four Seasons.
Opportunities for Destination Weddings
This surge in luxury properties within Ras Al Khaimah creates new opportunities for destination weddings. Asian couples planning celebrations abroad will find an expanded selection of high-end venues, including resorts with significant room capacities, from 2027.
For instance, the 1,530-key Wynn Al Marjan Island, opening in September 2027, will offer extensive options for large-scale events and guest accommodation.
Wedding planners serving the Asian market can anticipate a wider array of choices for clients seeking premium Middle Eastern locations, providing diverse settings from mountain lodges to beachfront resorts, with specific wedding packages and venue details expected to emerge as these properties near completion.
