Kandooma Maldives Joins HPL Portfolio With Resort Upgrades
Singapore's HPL Hotels & Resorts assumed management of the South Malé Atoll property on 1 October 2026, planning enhancements for its 146 villas and new social spaces.

HPL Hotels & Resorts Takes Over Management
Singapore's HPL Hotels & Resorts, a hospitality management firm under the Singapore-listed Hotel Properties Limited (HPL), announced its new management of the Kandooma Maldives. The change became effective on 1 October 2026. Previously known as Holiday Inn Kandooma Resort Maldives, the property has been rebranded simply as Kandooma Maldives.
This marks a significant expansion for HPL, making the resort its eighth property within the popular Maldivian destination. The strategic move reinforces HPL's presence in a key market for luxury travel and destination celebrations.
Resort Location and All-Inclusive Offerings
The Kandooma Maldives is situated on a private island within the South Malé Atoll. Guests can reach the resort via a 40-minute speedboat journey from Velana International Airport in Malé. The property features 146 villas designed for various travelers, including couples seeking a romantic escape and multi-generational families.
From 1 October, the resort's all-inclusive plan covers daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, selected beverages, and snacks throughout the day. It also includes complimentary experiences to enhance the island stay for all guests.
Planned Enhancements and New Facilities
The management transition includes comprehensive upgrades across all 146 villas and the resort's facilities. These enhancements introduce new accommodation options, such as eight Family Beach Villas, each featuring a private splash pool. Four two-bedroom Beach Houses will also gain private splash pools.
Additionally, a second three-bedroom villa will be added, meaning both three-bedroom villas will now offer private pools. New social spaces include a Beach Club, designed as an all-day gathering spot, and the Kandooma Café will provide 24-hour dining. These additions aim to broaden the resort's appeal.
Implications for Destination Weddings and Honeymoons
The upgrades at Kandooma Maldives offer new possibilities for couples planning destination weddings or honeymoons in Asia. The addition of villas with private splash pools provides more intimate options for honeymooners or small bridal parties. A new Beach Club creates a versatile social space for pre-wedding events or post-ceremony gatherings.
With its expanded appeal to couples and multi-generational families, the resort can cater to diverse wedding guest lists. Couples considering the Maldives for their celebrations should inquire about the newly enhanced facilities and all-inclusive packages when planning their events or romantic getaways.
